Middle School Physical Education focuses on developing students’ physical fitness, teamwork, and understanding of a variety of sports and health-related activities. The program emphasizes lifelong fitness, personal responsibility, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of physical activity.
By the end of the course, students will:
Improve cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and coordination
Demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns
Understand the rules and strategies of various team and individual sports
Develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
Learn the importance of personal fitness and healthy lifestyle habits
Each grade level will rotate through the following units (subject to change):
Team Sports: Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball
Individual/Dual Sports: Tennis,Pickleball, Track & Field
Fitness & Conditioning: Circuit Training, Fitness Testing, Stretching
Recreational Activities: Cooperative Games, Ultimate Frisbee
Grades will be based on the following:
Category Percentage
Participation 50% (Daily effort, teamwork, and engagement)
Dressing out 50% (Wearing the required PE uniform and athletic shoes)
Be on time and dressed in appropriate PE attire (PE uniform and athletic shoes must be worn daily)
Respect others, coaches, classmates, equipment, and facilities
Participate to the best of your ability every day
Follow safety rules and instructor directions
Demonstrate positive attitude and sportsmanship
Students are required to wear:
Athletic shoes
WRMS PE uniform
A parent/guardian or nurse’s note is required to excuse participation due to illness or injury. A doctor’s note is required if the student will be excused for more than two consecutive days or needs limited participation. All documentation must be submitted to the coaches before class begins

Disciplinary Policy
Students are expected to meet the behavioral and participation standards of a student-athlete. Consequences for not meeting expectations may include: • Verbal warning • Behavior reflection • Parent contact • Office referral (for repeated or serious issues) • Alternate workout assignments may be given in place of the regular workout when behavior, injury, or non-compliance requires it
