ELA Honors 6th Grade
Course Overview
Reading Workshop
Students will read during class as well as outside of school. We encourage families to share books and read together! We will learn skills and strategies to deepen our comprehension, sharpen our critical thinking, and refine our conversations about what we read.
Writing Workshop
Students will maintain a writer's notebook all year. Our focus will be polishing and enhancing our craft through writing, sharing, and publishing during class.

Required Materials/Class Supplies
Fully-charged school-issued iPad
2 Composition Notebooks (Lined from the top of the page to the bottom, not the ones that have half the page to draw)
A book to read each day. We'll start with a chapter fiction books, not graphic novels or books in verse.
Blue or Black Pens/ Editing pen (We do not do our work in pencil.)
Folder (any color) and notebook paper. (If you stay better organized using a 3-ring binder, then get one for this class instead of a folder.)
Highlighter
Ear buds
Colored Pencils or Pens (Flair and Gel pens OK!)
iPad Charger
