Subject Selection – A Message from the Leader of Graduate Preparation
Congratulations on reaching this exciting stage in your educational journey at Emmanuel Anglican College. As you begin selecting subjects for your senior years, you are making choices that will shape your learning, personal growth, and future opportunities.
At Emmanuel Anglican College, our purpose is to "grow each student to become a person of character who is inspired by excellence and adaptability, whose life is modelled on that of Jesus, and who, through courage, creativity, compassion and citizenship, strives to create a better world".
Your subject selection process is an important step in this journey—one that allows you to explore your strengths, follow your passions, and develop skills for the future.
This is a time to reflect on your interests, abilities, and aspirations. You may already have a clear idea of your future pathway, or you may still be exploring possibilities—and that’s completely okay. The most important thing is to keep an open mind and make informed choices. Consider:
What subjects do I enjoy and perform well in?
What career paths or study options might interest me?
How can I keep my options open if I’m still unsure?
To support you in making the best decisions for your future, I encourage you to:
✔ Engage with the resources provided on this website.
✔ Read the HSC Course Selection Handbook carefully.
✔ Choose subjects that align with your strengths and interests—not just because of friends.
✔ Seek advice from your Teachers, Careers Advisers, and Leader's of Curriculum.
✔ Talk to current senior students about their experiences in different subjects.
✔ Commit to working consistently—success in Stage 6 comes from dedication, attendance, and effort.
Remember, you don’t need to have all the answers now, but this is the time to start considering your future and taking ownership of your learning. If you need guidance, I am here to support you, so please reach out.
Wishing you the very best as you make your selections!
