EAB Volleyball Philosophy
A student at EAB may begin playing volleyball in the Lower School (LS). This level of volleyball helps students improve coordination while learning the fundamentals of the sport, such as footwork, passing, setting, serving, attacking and teamwork. The goal for LS is to introduce/build fundamentals and enjoy playing the sport while becoming a team member. Sportsmanship is introduced at this level.
When entering Middle School (MS), grade 6-8, there is a need to give the opportunity for younger students to develop. Fundamentals are expanded on and being built at this level. Competitiveness, discipline and game understanding being to be introduced. The goal at this level is to expand/develop fundamentals and enjoy improving in the sport while becoming a team member. Sportsmanship is taught and expanded on.
The High School (HS) consists of Varsity teams with students being in grade 9-12. While still stressing fundamentals at this level, there is an increase in competitiveness, training, tactics and mental preparation. If possible, these teams play in local leagues. These teams generally travel to compete in the tournaments when possible and with a healthy roster. The goal for Varsity is to apply past skills and learnings, compete at a high level while working to maximize each individual’s potential and form deeper relationships with teammates and coaches. Sportsmanship is an expectation to exhibit at all times when representing a Varsity team.
