EAB Cross Country Philosophy
A student at EAB may begin running Cross Country starting in the Middle School (MS)!
When entering Middle School (6-8th Grade), students can participate on the Middle School (MS) Cross Country team. There is an increase in the intensity and knowledge base for athletes in the phases of training. While fundamentals are still important and being built at this level, others areas like competitiveness, discipline and game understanding begin to form. The goal for MS is to expand/develop fundamentals and enjoy improving in the sport while becoming a team member. Sportsmanship is continually taught and expanded on.
The High School (HS) consists of Varsity teams with students being in Grade 9-12. While still stressing fundamentals at this level, there is an increase in competitiveness, training, tactics and mental preparation. If possible, these teams participates in local events. These teams generally travel to compete in the tournaments when possible and with a healthy roster. The goal for Varsity is to apply past skills and learnings, compete at a high level while working to maximize each individual’s potential and form deeper relationships with teammates and coaches. Sportsmanship is an expectation to exhibit at all times when representing a Varsity team.
