EAB Jiu Jitsu Philosophy
When entering Middle School (MS), for Jiu Jitsu, there is the ability to make the JV team. JV for students born on August 2, 2008 or later. There is an increase in the intensity and knowledge base for athletes. While fundamentals are still important and being built at this level, others areas like competitiveness, discipline and performance understanding begin to form. The goal for JV is to expand/develop fundamentals and enjoy improving in the sport while becoming a team member. Sportsmanship is continually taught and expanded on.
The High School (HS) consists of Varsity teams with students being 15 years and older. While still stressing fundamentals at this level, there is an increase in competitiveness, training, tactics and mental preparation. If possible, the team competes or has local demonstrations. These teams generally travel to compete in the tournaments when possible and with a healthy roster. The goal for Varsity is to apply past skills and learnings, compete at a high level while working to maximize each individual’s potential and form deeper relationships with teammates and coaches. Sportsmanship is an expectation to exhibit at all times when representing a Varsity team.
For Jiu Jitsu, Varsity & JV levels will be combined this season.
