In this component, some students are face-to-face and socially distancing while other students are home and learning on their own. Teachers should consider cooperative learning structures that maintain socially distancing requirements. For the students learning at home independently, teachers may want to consider project-based learning activities for those students.
In this component, students may also engage in a concurrent model. This means that some students will be face-to-face and socially distancing, while other students are joining the class virtually. Teachers need to consider how they will manage and engage face-to-face students and, at the same time, manage and engage virtual students. Utilizing asynchronous videos for lecture and learning new content becomes critical in this model.
The purpose of this video is to draw attention to cooperative learning in a socially distanced environment, to share ideas of how to manage a concurrent classroom, and the recommendation to establish campfire groups for student support.
