Computer Graphics and Digital Design 1-2

This career and technical education course will introduce students to the basic principles used in Graphic Design and Digital Communication. Students will study basic camera usage, photographic composition elements, elements of design, basic terminology, file naming conventions, storage and transfer of digital media, basic image manipulation, and usage of the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Additionally, students other windows based software to complete written reports and portfolios. Students will also explore the various career opportunities in the graphics and media fields. The class will be project-based with an emphasis on career and personal use.


Classroom Materials:

Required

  • A composition note book to create an interactive notebook.

  • A pen or pencil for note taking

Recommended

  • Coloring pencils for sketching thumbnails and roughs. (I also have coloring pencils that can be shared with the rest of the class)

  • A minimum of a two gigabyte portable USB thumb drive is also recommended for backup and archival purposes (This can be shared for all of your classes). This will also provide the opportunity to work on some projects at home or share completed projects with the family.
