The Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) is an alternative learning pathway designed to foster active, engaging, and student-centered learning. The program emphasizes meaningful classroom discussions, individual conferencing, and small-group collaboration to promote critical thinking, communication, and personal growth.
DLP utilizes an active learning model that extends beyond the traditional lectures and textbooks. Students are encouraged to participate fully in the learning process through hands-on activities, real world applications, and open dialogue. Learners are viewed as contributors to the classroom experience, helping shape discussions and deepen shared understanding.
Each student participates in regular one-on-one conferences with staff. These meetings provide an opportunity to better understand the student’s learning style, interests, challenges, and academic goals, allowing for personalized support and guidance.
Collaborative learning is a core component of the DLP structure. Small group projects and problem solving tasks foster teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to consider multiple perspectives. Students learn from both staff and peers within the programs, contributing to a strong sense of community.
Classrooms within the program are intentionally flexible and adaptable. Furniture may be rearranged to support various learning formats, and technology is seamlessly integrated to enhance instruction and engagement.
The Dynamic Learning Program is committed to cultivating both academic success and essential life skills. Instruction prioritizes active learning, thoughtful discussion, individualized support, and collaborative problem solving. The goal is not only to build content knowledge, but also to strengthen students’ confidence, resilience, and readiness for future challenges.
A student’s school day includes a combination of DLP classes and courses within the broader school community. All coursework is designed to meet graduation requirements. In addition to academic development, DLP places a strong emphasis on personal responsibility , mental well-being, and maintaining a positive mindset, ensuring that students are prepared for both academic and personal success.
Students, parents/guardians, guidance counselors and administrators may participate in an interview process prior to enrollment. All students and families must sign a DLP agreement outlining program expectations. To maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment, students are expected to uphold the guidelines outlined in the DLP handbook. These expectations promote accountability in behavior, participation, and academic effort. Failure to meet these standards may result in progressive disciplinary action, including possible removal from the program.
The primary mission of the Dynamic Learning Program is to support students in reaching their full potential and in preparing for their post-high school goals and aspirations.
