Leaders engage a diverse network of community partners and stakeholders in order to support and sustain STEM programs and initiatives.
Our teachers have worked closely with the staff at the Maricopa STEM Resource center since its inception. Our teachers have collaborated with other schools on trips to the STEM Resource Center, they have attended professional development provided by the STEM Resource Center and have taken advantage of their partnership with Amazon to bring back STEM supplies to the classroom to carry out STEM lessons. This has been an ongoing relationship that gets stronger with each passing year as we push one another to continusously raise the bar in pursuit of an exemplar STEM education.
Almost our entire staff has completed at least one Donors Choose project. A large number of teachers always have a Donors Choose project ready to go for any Match Day supported by different businesses. Mrs. Orr our 5th grade ELA teacher does an amazing word getting the word out and inspiring teachers to post a project to get the things they dream about having in their classroom. Thanks to the recent match day from Panda Express, The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and Giving Tuesday our teachers were able to purchase STEM supplies, brand new classroom furniture, podcasting equipment and PBIS incentive prizes.
Every 4th grader receives a free National Parks pass where they have the opportunity to see America's natural wonders and monuments for free. Every 4th grader at Sierra Verde has the opportunity to learn about our National Parks from a Park Ranger and earn their very own National Parks pass to gain access for their entire family to every National Park in America.
Teachers on our campus are motivated to write grants to provide unique learning opportunities for our Vipers. In the last five years our teachers have received grants from the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phoenix Suns, the Fiesta Bowl (#wishesforteachers) and Touchdowns for Teachers.
