A huge part of Moxie Girls is teaching the girls how to use social media as a platform that benefits society. All of the girls use social media in their daily lives. The Moxie Girls got to experience how many people this project impacted through Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. The Moxie Girls want to inspire the next generation of female computer scientists and women working in STEM!
This past year I have had fallen in love with Twitter. Twitter has allowed me to celebrate these girls all over the world. I have received so many messages or tweets telling me what an amazing program this is and they wish something like this was in place for their daughters. The LA Fund project has allowed me to see what other groups were doing and how I could better serve these girls over the course of the project. LA Fund has become a way of life for these girls and myself and I am honored that these girls will forever be a part of this amazing organization.
Instagram is totally where we do most of our posts, but we have linked our Twitter page so anytime we post on Instagram it automatically posts to Twitter. Spreading the word on both platforms for our followers has been awesome to see how it has grown in the past year. These girls have gotten so much love over the course of the year for all of the things they have been doing in and out of the classroom. It has been fun to see where we started with this project and where it has ended.
Using Instagram as a social platform has opened a lot of doors for these girls in terms of partnerships and mentorship for these girls. This is our favorite place to celebrate all of the amazing things the girls have accomplished over the past year. We follow some of the most amazing female leadership empowerment organizations on the planet. We love to be inspired and inspire people all over the world. The main focus of the Moxie Girls program is to see females in roles in computer science and STEM. These girls have gone from being mentored by some of the most amazing people on the planet to the point they have become mentors for the next generation. That is what it means to be a Moxie Girl!!!
