FAQ's

What is LEAD?

LEAD is an afterschool program that offers a diverse set of classes at DVISD elementary, middle and high schools.

How much does lead cost?

LEAD is free for all DVISD students!

How does my student get into the program?

The LEAD program is open to all students, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Interested students must apply to be considered for the LEAD lottery by completing the online application for their campus. In August, applications are put through a randomized lottery process to determine acceptance to the program. Students are grouped by family unit so siblings are not split by enrollment. Notifications of acceptance are sent to parents following the lottery. In order to start the program, parents must attend a LEAD orientation. Students not selected for enrollment at the start of the year are put on a waiting list. Students are accepted off of this list in order of application date as spots become available in the program.

Secondary Students: LEAD provides after school enrichment programming for all secondary students in grades six through twelve. Due to lower enrollment, no lotteries are held at the secondary level. Interested students must apply by completing the online application for their campus. Notifications of acceptance are sent to parents and students. In order to start the program, parents must attend a LEAD orientation.

What days and times does LEAD operate?

LEAD operates Monday-Thursday and September – May. Elementary programs run 2:45-5:30 PM. Middle and High School programs run 4 – 6 pm. LEAD does not operate on Fridays, Early Release Days, or on Holidays. Please refer to the LEAD calendar updated annually.

What if I have more than one student attending a campus?

Applications are accepted by family. Please list all students interested in the program on your LEAD application. If you have more than four students at one campus please email your campus Enrichment Program Specialist with the names and grade levels of additional students.

What if I have students at mulTiple campuses?

Please complete one application for each campus your students attend. Example: If you have two students at Baty Elementary and two students at Ojeda Middle, you would complete BOTH the Baty and Ojeda applications.
