Each year, WHS SkillsUSA applies for the Chapters of Excellence program through SkillsUSA. This year, Warren was awarded Gold, and were nominated by State leaders for this year's Models of Excellence! WHS SkillsUSA presented our Personal Skills project, "Serving Those Who Serve Us: Feeding First Responders of the CA Wildfires" at Nationals and were named one of the top eight school projects for "Personal Skills" across the country!
Our chapter aims to empower members to become world-class workers, leaders, and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of Framework skills that include personal, workplace, and technical skills grounded in academic foundations. Warren High School SkillsUSA chapter envisions producing students who are interested, engaged, and innovative members of the collaborative school, local, and broader communities.
Located in Downey, California, Warren High School currently serves over 3,400 students in grades 9-12. To provide students with the unique opportunities of SkillsUSA, Warren High's Chapter first began competing in 2012. Today, Warren's CTE department provides opportunities to about 1,000 students across 14 pathways, ranging from Manufacturing and Construction to Game Programming and Audio/Visual Technology.
