Warren's Golden Bear Awards honor all students for their achievement throughout a variety of academic and extracurricular areas. As we work towards developing 21st century learners, the students being recognized here are at the forefront of excellence at Warren High School. In today’s complex world, these students have developed the character and skills necessary to be successful members of society.

The students being recognized for Golden Bear are shining stars at Warren. They show great character, strong work ethic, and are focused on their education.

Grand Golden Bear 2021

The Grand Golden Bear is given to one student who has shown excellence in many of the categories awarded below. This is truly the highest honor. The student chosen for the Grand Golden is considered to be an overall amazing person—who is not only intelligent, but also shows good character and is driven to be the best that he or she can be each and every day.

Alicia Cazares

To say that this year’s Grand Golden Bear is exceptional is an understatement. She is someone who knew clearly at a very young age, that success is never easy; it requires hard work and consistent dedication. She has a subtle confidence that could never be confused for arrogance, with an uncanny level of maturity and knowledge that could only come from an extraordinary mind. She will, beyond a doubt, make a difference in this world as her compassion towards others will never let her settle for just good enough. She is kind, thoughtful and genuine, with an infectious smile that catches on quickly and before you know it, you too are smiling. She is ranked #1 in the senior class of 2021, with an academic record that is so impressive it can only be validated by her acceptance to one of the most prestigious universities in the country. This year’s Grand Golden Bear recipient will be attending Yale University in the fall where she will pursue a degree in medicine - specifically pediatrics. Lastly, living through an incredibly difficult year with a world-wide pandemic that no one could have ever anticipated or prepared for, this young woman never wavered; she remained positive, optimistic and focused and recognized that the decisions she made this year would truly define her character.

Jesse started with us barely knowing the game of golf. Within 1 year, he worked his way on to the varsity team. He did so by staying at the driving range longer than most and also getting out on the course more than anyone else. He is a true leader and is always trying to help and encourage others on the team. AVID Golden Bear Winner

Jennifer embodies the true spirit of AVID by being an excellent student, overcomer of all odds, and a servant of her community. She has maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.27 while overcoming incredible personal obstacles over the years, and this is while serving her community as the Head Football Manager for the past three years and now as the Vice President of the Senior Class during the pandemic year, as she works diligently to rally her senior class to cross the finish line. She is the pride of our AVID Program, and that is why we have proudly chosen Jennifer Diaz as our AVID Golden Bear Statue Recipient of the Year.
