General Information
Participants will compete individually in their allocated grades. After that, on the same map, with the same sites, but different courses, there will be a Sprint Relay event with a mass start for all teams. You can run this Relay on your own, or in pairs, or as a team of 4 people. General Information

Available Courses
There are no B grade options for Sprints, as control sites are no harder than Orange level. But the "Red" courses can be very complex, with loops, pivots and map-flips. Courses 1-3 have a map-flip.Available Courses
Adults shadowing children must do their own course first, then shadow their child/ren in the M/W10 grade, after the M/W10 competitors who are doing the course on their own have started. Shadowed children need to be noted as NC (Non-competitive) on the results.
There are 4 looped courses that each come back through the Start. 4 x A5 maps are printed on one page of A4. There will be 1 SI stick per team, and 4 legs to run. You can do all 4 legs yourself, and passing through the handover area and keeping running. Or you can have up to 4 team members, who hand over the team SI chip & team map each time you pass through. Only after the 4th leg is the Finish control punched. There are 7 or fewer controls per leg, so a 30memory red SI8 stick will work for this event.
The day before, at the Long Distance event, you can sort out who will run which leg, and give yourself/selves a Team Name that indicates who you are (eg: Thayer Family, London St Flatmates, Otago Boys/Girls School Mixed, Remarkables Primary Girls).

You could still shadow a young person in the Relay, but people will be moving very fast around you, so you will have to take care to keep out of the way of faster runners.
We had a particular concept of how we wanted the Sprint Relay to come to pass, that was as inclusive as possible to families, friends and individuals of all abilities and experience. A huge thanks to Dwayne Smith for his technical help in allowing us to pull through with this type of event.

Basic Sport Ident tutorial for helpful club members
Sunday 4.30-5.30pm at the Dunstan High School gymnasium, Event Centre for the Sprint event.
Helping run the computer at your local event is actually easy once you are shown what to do. If you can send an email, you can do basic Sport Ident entry.
Any orienteer from around the country is welcome to come along to this low-key tutorial.
Come along and learn how to; enter someone for a course, allocate them a hire chip or put their own SI number in, allow them to download their course and how to pull up a list of the results or a list of how many competitors are still out there. Anything more complicated than that can get solved by your club Sport Ident experts.
We'll have a data projector and screen showing you the computer screen layout, and a dummy course of SI boxes. Bring along your own SI stick, if you want, or "hire" one, then learn how to enter, amend entries, and download.
The tutorial will be run by Dwayne Smith, Genevieve Webb, and Graeme Read, whose useful handout of reminder tips will be given out to attendees.
