Duesman's House of History

Welcome to Mrs. Duesman's class where my goal is for you to love history as much as I do!!! I know...I know...you have always hated history. History is boring. History is nothing but a list of facts. History is about a bunch of old white men.

You couldn't be more WRONG! History is TODAY! Look around our society and ask yourself WHY? Why Denton? Why are hamburgers so popular in Texas? Why did my parents/grandparents/great-grandparents settle in this area? Did they come here willingly or were they forced? Why were people protesting? Why does Texas have a Governor and not a President? Why did we erect the Lincoln memorial? Why is the freedom of speech so important? Why wasn't freedom of speech always been guaranteed? Why did we have to have a law protecting me from the police searching my house? Why...why....why?!?

History is all about looking at the 'Why'. To understand where we are, we have to understand how we got here. That is my goal...to help you see how we got here! I can't wait to start our adventure....
