You will be learning about history differently this year. We will go thorugh US history through themes rather than chronologically. What that means is that we group different events of history together and tie them together. It also means that we constantly are looking back at what we have already learned about US history to connect it to the current theme. It may sound confusing now but it will make more sense when we are immersed in each theme!
Another way this year will be different is the way in which you will take control of your own learning and how I will help you on this journey. Each week I will teach you some strategies to learn about history. Then you will be given opportunities to use those strategies to learn from. Sometimes you will have choices in how you learn: videos, text, images. You will also have choices on how to show your learning on many assignments. After you complete those assignments I will give you feedback on how to improve. You will take that feedback and make revisions and turn it in for a final assessment. This gives me an opportunity to coach you in your learning rather than telling you what you need to do.
