Students must maintain an unweighted 2.0 GPA in order to participate in EHS Athletics. Students in grades 10-12 who have a GPA between 1.67 and 2.0 and no more than 1 "F" may apply for Athletic Probation. See below for additional information.
The probationary period of one (1) grading period in four years may be applied by Administration.
The athlete is expected to achieve academic eligibility by the end of this period.
A student who does not meet the above requirement during the probationary period will not be allowed to participate in interscholastic athletics in the subsequent grading period and until eligibility requirements are met.
To participate in interscholastic sports, a student-athlete must have a GPA of 2.0 or above and no more than one (1) F in the most recent grading period, and must have passed a minimum of 20 units.
Students with a GPA of 1.67 - 2.0 and no more than one (1) F may request academic probation, provided they have not had two consecutive grading terms below a 2.0 GPA.
Students below these standards are automatically ineligible for that grading period and may NOT participate in athletics.
While on probation, students may participate for one grading period but must raise their GPA to at least 2.0 and have no F grades.
Academic probation may not be granted more than once in four years.
Students must present copies of a weekly academic progress report to the Athletic Director.
Any failing grade on the report, or failure to provide the report, results in a one-week suspension from activities. A second offense results in removal from participation.
Students must attend ACCESS periods for the classes they are behind in, with verification by teacher signature.
Students must attend and be on time to all classes. Excessive absences/tardies result in suspension, and repeated offenses result in removal.
Any violation of the student code of conduct results in dismissal from activities.
The school expects positive student behavior at all times and will discourage or deter illegal, immoral, unhealthy, or inappropriate behavior. Violations of school rules or community laws may result in ineligibility for participation. Because interscholastic athletics and extracurricular activities are privileges, participants are held to higher standards academically and behaviorally. By joining the EHS athletic program, students agree to abide by the athletic code of conduct for the entire school year.
If you believe you meet the eligibility requirements and would like to apply for Athletic Probation, please contact the Athletic Director.
