Thank you for your interest in becoming a mentor for the DEDA Mentor Program! This program is designed to provide college & career guidance for our junior Engineering Academy students. Click here for a printable flyer!
Please review the Scheduled Meeting Dates for 2025-26 as well as the Mentor Program Handbook . A physical copy of the handbook will be available to mentors at the orientations on August 25th & 26th.
Please complete the 2025-26 DHS STEM Mentor Program Application to let us know that you would like to mentor this year. Even if you can’t finish it in one sitting, at least get it started by August 7th, as it will help us with planning, but please finish your application by August 15.
Mentors should have experience in an engineering or technology related field.
Mentoring is a commitment of eight 1-hour meetings starting in September and ending in April.
Participating students are juniors from the DHS Engineering & Design Academy.
Mentor-student meetings will take place once per month on the Dublin High School campus.
Each mentor will be grouped with 1-2 students. Then each mentor pair will be grouped with another pair to create a mentor team.
Mentors must complete an application and personal profile to be carefully matched to their student(s).
Application deadline for the 2025-26 school year will be in August 15, 2025.
All new mentors must attend one of the full orientations on August 25th or 26th from 6-7:30pm. These will be in person at DHS.
We are looking for approximately 30 mentors this year, so if we have more mentors apply than spots available, mentors will be selected based on compatibility to our students' career interests.
Step One: Review the Scheduled Meeting Dates and responsibilities listed below.
Step Two: Complete the online application.
Step Three: Attend the Mentor Orientation. Selected mentors will receive an email by September 6 to confirm their selection.
Come to the first meeting ready to meet your mentees!
We expect mentors to:
Commit to attending all scheduled meetings and notify Academy staff if there is a sudden conflict
Work with mentee to re-schedule any meetings missed
Be on time to meetings
Be positive
Share with students about your career, successes, lessons learned, etc.
Listen to students with an open mind
Respond to e-mail correspondences in a timely manner
Be a resource to students when they need career advice or business contacts
Notify Academy staff if students need additional guidance or discipline
Please feel free to contact the DEDA Progam Coordinator with any questions or concerns.
