Karrer Middle School
Karrer Middle School
Dear Karrer Families-
Thank you to all of you who joined us this week at the KMS Open House. It was great to see all of you and we hope you enjoyed meeting your child's teachers and hearing more about what they will be learning this school year. I also introduced a new component of each student's day this year, Link. Please see THIS VIDEO, outlining the purpose of Link and what it entails weekly.
As a safety note, I also would like to again address students who are biking to school. I spoke to all students last week, and will do so again along with Officer Evans in lunches next week. Students who are on our bike paths should ride on the left in single file, and announce "biker on your left" to alert pedestrians of their presence. At no point in time should any bike be in our bus lane, parking lot or the roadway. Please also let your child know that they should always assume that a vehicle does NOT see them to avoid accidents. I appreciate your assistance in discussing these tips with your child in order to keep all of our students safe.
Thank you for your collaboration-
Brooke Menduni
Having the right data is a key component of individualizing instruction for each child in the Dublin City School District. The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments give us the ability to measure student achievement and academic growth, independent of grade, across time. The MAP assessment allows us to compare student, class and grade level performance with other students’ performance from around the country.
Please see below for the dates that KMS will administer the MAP assessment to both RLA and Hybrid students:
Monday, August 30 in Language Arts Classes
Thursday, September 2 in Math Classes
If a student doesn’t take or finish their MAP test during the allotted time, individual arrangements will be made for them to take/finish the MAP test.
Sixth grade parent access codes for Schoology (our learning management system) will be arriving via the US postal service next week. Please be on the look out next week for this letter to arrive. Should you not receive one by the end of the week, please contact our guidance department: 614-718-8513.
New students to Dublin will also be receiving their code in the mail.
In an attempt to assist us in getting your child signed out in the most efficient manner possible, please send a note in with your child when they are leaving early for an appointment, or for any known absences. Mrs. Call, our front office secretary, will pre-excuse your child from class at the time you designate on your written note, and will give your child a pass to leave class. We find this makes the speed in which we are able to get you and your child much faster, and appreciate your assistance. Thank you in advance!
