If your Chromebook is broken or you are having hardware issues, please contact the Student Helpdesk.
You can do so by emailing: student_helpdesk@dublinschools.net
Use the Shut down icon or press the power button and then click "Power off" to fully shut down the Chromebook. Once it has been off for approximately 30 seconds, press the power button to turn it back on.
Note: Chromebooks should be shut down weekly.
Log out of the Chromebook.
Then, click the down arrow to the right of your name.
Select "Remove this user"
A message will appear letting you know that any temporary, local files located in the Files folder will be deleted. That should be OK if you have moved important items to your Google Drive.
Click "Remove this user" again.
Then restart the Chromebook and log in again.
Open Chrome.
Click on the 3 dots (the skinny snowman).
Select "More Tools" and then "Clear Browsing Data"
When the next window opens, click "Clear data".
Restores Chrome to original default settings
Open Chrome
Click on 3 dots, the skinny snowman
Click on "Settings"
Scroll to the bottom of the Settings window, click on "Advanced"
Scroll to the bottom again and click on "Restore setting to they original default"
Another window pops up, click the "Reset settings" button
The Chromebook should keep itself up to date but there may be an issue after longs breaks of not using the Chromebook
Open Chrome
Click on 3 dots in the top right corner
Click on "Help" at the bottom of the list
Click on "About Chrome OS",
Click "Check for Updates" (this may not appear if Chrome is up to date)
Let it check for updates and update as needed. (This may take a while)
If a major update is needed
Click "Check for and apply updates" button
Shut down and Restart the Chromebook
Recently we have had many students who cannot download material from their Chromebook to Google Drive or even their Downloads folder on the device. They are also having issues taking and saving screenshots to their Files folder.
Copy and paste (or type) the address below into the URL area of your browser:
chrome://settings/resetProfileSettings
Click "Enter"
When the box shown on the left appears, click "Reset settings" (the blue button).
This will turn off all of your extensions (one of which might be causing the problem).
If you are already on this page, click on "Extensions" in the left column.
If you are not in the Settings area already, click on the 3 dots to the right of your name in Chrome and select "Settings". Then click on "Extensions" in the left column
Once there, look through the extensions and toggle on the one(s) you need to turn back on.
