This week we continued conversations around our summer reading books using Jam Board. Students also created a flip grid about their choice books and responded to their classmates' videos. Next week we will explore more ideas for narrative story ideas. We will also begin learning word observation routines to help us build our vocabulary and our understanding of words.
This week we focused on our identity with the mentor text of "What My Name Means" by Jennifer Dignan. We are in the process of creating our own "What My Name Means" poem and those will be posted soon on my website. Next week we are going to do a FlipGrid for our summer reading choice books and continue with the drafting and publishing of "What My Name Means' poem.
We will continue our work on finding the area of figures by using what we know about rectangles to find the area of triangles, parallelograms, trapezoids and other quadrilaterals. This will allow us to use our understanding of composing and decomposing figures to support our understanding of how these shapes relate to one another.
