The slides for each student will be added to a team presentation.
Students have access to the slide templates and more information about the slides in their team Schoology courses.
Slides are due by Friday, May 14, 2021.

CHROME BOOK - SHUT DOWN
Please log out and SHUT DOWN your Chromebook and not just close it at least once a week.
Let it remain shut down for at least 1 hour or even better while you sleep tonight.
The shut down allows the computer to update itself so it runs more efficiently.
DCS VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
Need a brain break? Need a place to virtually chillax and zone out for a few minutes?
Take a moment to check out our DCS Virtual Calming Room. You will find live animal cameras, online coloring books, and visual relaxation videos, to name a few.
Cameras and Google Meet - Please encourage your student to turn on the camera on Google Meet during classes. It is difficult to know if a student is on task or is understanding the material when the camera is turned off. Google Meet is releasing a new feature to blur the background that is being pushed out through the next few days.
If your family is experiencing hardship, please see THIS FLYER with information about support available within the Dublin community.
Our TED Talk Google Site is coming together! Students are finishing their recordings and uploading them to the site this week. Our focus this week has been learning about plagiarism and making sure we are effectively citing the information and images we are using in our presentations. Next week students will be sharing their presentations and providing feedback to their classmates.
We are now into our argument projects and our book clubs. We are working in our groups daily and getting some great reading and work done. I cannot believe it's almost the end of the year, but we are going to end on a high note! Yeah!!
Students will develop statistical reasoning by using the GAISE model. We will be focusing on the following ideas:
a. Formulate Questions: Recognize and formulate a statistical question as one that anticipates variability and can be answered with quantitative data. For example, "How old am I?" is not a statistical question, but "How old are the students in my school?: is a statistical question because of the variability in students' ages.
b. Collect Data: Design and use a plan to collect appropriate data to answer a statistical question.
c. Analyze Data: Select appropriate graphical methods and numerical measures, such as mean, median and mode, to analyze data by displaying variability within a group, comparing individual to individual, and comparing individual to group.
d. Interpret Results: Draw logical conclusions from the data based on the original question.

This week we created Bibliographies and discussed copyright. We added a bibliography to our Google site and are working to get caught up with missing assignments. Next week we will look at misinformation and disinformation.
This week we finished our coding unit by completing our web page on code.org using HTML. I am astounded with how good everyone got using this programming language this quarter. Next week we will be shifting our focus to seeing fake news and learning how to identify it.
This has been our "random" week of exploring unique sports and activities. We learned about Parkour, Geocaching, Disc Golf, and will end the week with a virtual scavenger hunt workout. Everything we do in class is posted on my Schoology page if your child would like to refer to any informational videos or corresponding workouts.
Go Celts! ;)
We took class outside this week! With the beautiful weather we had I wanted the kids to try and get outside to get some fresh air. Students were able to pick a physical activity of their choice and present to me their proof/evidence that they completed their activity through a google document. Students completed a variety of activities such as rollerblading, biking, running, walking, tennis, basketball, skateboarding, volleyball, yoga, golf, badminton, etc. Students did a great job of mixing up their activities, as well as trying out new ones!

The students spent the week by investigating motion graphs and how to read them. They have a speed walking activity due Monday. Our Motion Unit Test is scheduled for Friday, May 21, and that is the last day to turn in any missing work from the unit.

We are learning about ancient India's civilizations and the geography. The students have learned where and why early civilizations settled within India. Students also began creating an infographic on ancient India's civilizations. They will continue to add to their infographic throughout the unit.
We will be finishing up the chapter on modern day China. Then we will begin to explore modern day India. We will review data about the IT workers and jobs in India and around the world. We will also use this information to complete and analyze maps about the growth of IT jobs.
