Students will need to have the following supplies:
Dear Future Second Grade Parents/Guardians,
We are looking forward to fun year of learning and growing with your child! We will be planning activities to enrich your child's education over the coming weeks.
The following is a list of items your child will find useful to have in their second grade desk. In addition, we have a short list of items which are unnecessary or distracting and should not be brought to school. Hopefully, this list will help you choose the proper tools for your child and avoid the purchase of unnecessary items.
If you choose to purchase these items for your child, please label them with your child's name and place them in a large ziploc bag before sending them to school. Label the bag and all extra supplies will be kept in a handy cabinet in our room. I will have a large container to keep their extra supplies until needed. If you cannot purchase these items for your child, the school will provide them.
Thank you in advance for supporting your child's learning experience!
Sincerely, the Second Grade Teachers
*Students may choose to keep all extra supplies safely in a gallon size ziploc bag with their name labeled . Then the bag will be stored for future use as needed.
Headphones for Zearn Math are a necessity. They are more comfortable than earbuds.
One pencil pouch or box to hold supplies
4+ large glue sticks (You will need more throughout the year. I will send home reminders.)
6-8 sharpened pencils (traditional Ticonderoga pencils are best) More will be needed throughout the year.
Box of 16-24 crayons (no more than that, please)
colored pencils if desired
1 pack of washable markers if desired
a soft eraser (like Pink Pearl)
6 low odor dry erase markers
2 highlighters
2 2 pocket vinyl folders (without the fasteners) One will be labeled for Home/School
1 single subject spiral bound notebook for Science 70 sheet size is fine!
2 composition books
1 pair of student scissors
1 standard in/cm ruler
1 large box of tissues for our class to share if possible!
Please bring a leak proof water bottle to school each day. We will also have time for a much needed snack break. Please pack something healthy that will boost energy and can be eaten rather easily. (Crackers, granola bars, fruit, yogurt are just a few ideas.) We do not share snacks at Wycallis.
We will spend the first few days just getting our notebooks ready. It is fine to wait until after the first day if you're not sure. I always provide sample notebooks for my students to visualize. That may help if they are feeling unsure. I, of course, can help with any supplies if you are feeling stuck. I just know this is an exciting way to calm those nerves before beginning the first day! (Stories, cookies, and hugs help too.)💙
Clorox wipes are my last request 😁 (when or IF you should find a container to share! Sometimes they are in high demand.)
PLEASE DO NOT SEND: mechanical pencils or Trapper Keepers. The pencil lead breaks onto the floor and marks the tile. The Trapper Keeper will not fit into the desk basket.
