About The Teacher
My name is Mrs. Heltzel and I am excited to have your child in my 2nd Grade classroom at the Wycallis Primary Center! I have been teaching in the Dallas School District since 2005. I am a graduate of East Stroudsburg University and a former teacher of second grade in the School District of Philadelphia. In addition to teaching second grade for many years, I have also taught third grade grade for 3 years, and I also taught kindergarten as well as fifth grade here at Wycallis!
I have two daughters, both of which are graduates of the Dallas School District. Alexandra, is a graduate of Early Childhood Education at East Stroudsburg University. She and her husband provide the best joy with the fun of my 3 grandchildren- Three under three is certainly never a dull moment! My daughter, Emily, a graduate of West Chester University, is also a teacher within the district. She teaches second grade on the White team. We have fun planning our lessons and even setting up our classrooms together. Alex and Emily are also both former Wycallis students... so we have been a part of the incredible Wycallis/Dallas community for so many years!
At home we also have an old fellow Shi-Poo dog named McCoy. He is most lovable in the morning, but boy is he cranky in the evening! He keeps us on our toes at home, mostly because he likes to nibble at them! Our other lovable addition is our tiny Shitzu-Lasa mix named Chester. He is the sweetness to our "salty" older McCoy. Chester was a surprise gift from my daughters a few years ago, because they felt "the nest" was now empty and Mom was lonely. DIDN'T THEY REALIZE I HAVE 23 MORE CHILDREN HERE AT WYCALLIS TO FILL MY HEART??!!! Yes, I truly am blessed by so much love, licks , hugs, and pride for each and every one of them. My nest is full. ;)
I can't wait to meet and learn about your children and the love that sparks interest in their eyes! In our class, We Are a Family. We will share and learn from each other. I know it's going to be a great year together!
Mission For The Class
I believe every child has the right as well as a responsibility to work to their highest potential. Together we will work to achieve success. Remember that every day is a new day!
