Visit America 250 PA’s Semiquin Program to learn more about an exciting scholarship opportunity for college-bound graduates. American Legion Scholarship Oratorical Contest
The Oratorical contest was developed primarily to instill a better knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States in high school students. Other objectives include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. Another purpose of the program is to assist students in paying the high cost of a college education. The Department of Pennsylvania American Legion awards the first place winner a $7,500 scholarship, plaque and expense paid trip to the Pennsylvania American Legion State convention to present his/her winning oration, plus the opportunity to represent Pennsylvania in the National and Regional Contests and receive an additional $1,500 scholarship from the National Organization. The second place winner receives a $5,000 scholarship and plaque and the third place winner receives a $4,000 scholarship and plaque. The student must submit an application to any

Energy Education Foundation Scholarship Program
The Energy Education Foundation Scholarship application is now available. This program offers $2,000 scholarships for selected students to support their postsecondary education in an energy-related field. This opportunity is open to high school seniors and postsecondary students across the U.S. pursuing college, trade, or certification programs related to energy. Endless Mountains Primitive Outdoorsman Scholarship
Eligibility:
1. Students must be pursuing a degree or certificate at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e. Junior College, Community College, Technical College, College, University, or Trade School)
2. Students must be involved in school and/or community activities. (i.e. FFA, 4-H, Ecology Club, Scouting, Science Club, Student Council, Leo Club, Leadership Council, etc.)
3. Students must submit a 700 - 1000 word essay responding to ONE of the three prompts listed on page two. Your essay should use Times New Roman, 12pt font, and be double spaced. Your essay must include verifiable citations. The citations may be in your preferred format.
4. A letter of recommendation must be attached to the application from a teacher, mentor or other community leader. 5. Joseph J. Esoda "Making a Better Future Scholarship
The Luzerne Foundation is offering a new scholarship opportunity for graduating seniors who are planning to pursue a 1-2 year degree or certificate in an “advanced manufacturing technology” discipline such as those commonly falling under the heading of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Welding & Welding Technology, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Technician, Nanofabrication or similar, at either Johnson College, Lackawanna College, or Luzerne County Community College.

This scholarship is for students who are a legal dependent of a union member, whose union is affiliated with the Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council. Application /Essay due by March 21,2025. See google classroom for more info.
Elizabeth Cadwalader Stoddart Scholarship - Scholarship is designated for a female student that meets the specific guidelines detailed on the front page of the scholarship application. Application deadline is March 15, 2026. See Google classroom for more info
William Stoddart Scholarship - is designated for a male student who has been accepted and will be attending Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut . Application deadline is March 15, 2026. See Google classroom for more info.
Commission on Economic Opportunity Scholarship
This scholarship is specifically intended for a students whose family is economically disadvantaged.
In addition to low family income, other special factors considered would be a single parent family, guardianship, a medical disability or handicap, etc. See Mrs. Keating in Guidance for more information. If eligible, an application and three letters of recommendation will need to be submitted to the CEO by March 17, 2025.
Penn East Federal Credit Union
Penn East FCU will be awarding 3 scholarships worth $2500. Student and/or parent must be an active member to to eligible. See google classroom for application. Application deadline is February 11, 2026.
Luzerne County Head Start Scholarship:
Guidelines: Previous participation in Head Start program, acceptance to a college/university or vocational/trade school, guidance counselor or teacher recommendation and complete application with all required attachments. Application is posted on google classroom. Deadline is January 23, 2026 at 4:00 pm.

Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation Scholarships
The Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation is offering 5 scholarship opportunities. They are asking applicants to prepare an essay of up to 1,500 words about a person, location, or event that has been underrecognized in Pennsylvania History.
Two cash awards of $1,000 and three cash awards of $500 will be presented for the best essays received.
Eligible applicants should be current Pennsylvania residents attending a two or four-year Pennsylvania college or university in the Fall of 2025 and pursuing a course of study in History or an allied field. We will be looking for well-written and thoughtfully articulated essays that elevate the topic with originality and understanding. 2024 Blair E. Caboot Memorial Scholarship: The Scholarship applicant should excel in mathematics in high school and have future plans in a mathematics-related field. To apply, students should fill out the online form at www.npctm.org. A transcript and recommendation letter from one of the student's mathematics teachers is required. The application window is open from September 1, 2024 through March 1, 2025.
Society of Women Engineers: The Lehigh Valley Professional Section of Society of Women Engineers grants scholarships to graduating high school senior females who will be entering an accredited engineering program. Calvin Coolidge Scholarship - Is a full-ride, four year, merit scholarship. Any high school junior who plans to attend college in the fall of 2025 may apply.
