Scholarships for Specific College

Part of determining what school to attend should involve going to the college's web page  and seeking out scholarships and financial opportunities available at that specific school.  Every school has a webpage describing scholarships available at that school.

  Wilkes University - Any 11th grade student that is STRONGLY considering Wilkes University upon graduation is encouraged to stop in the Guidance Office for a potential scholarship opportunity. The requirements for this scholarship are : 80.00 or higher GPA and 1000 SAT or 21 ACT. Please see Mr. Kelly or Mrs. Keating to apply for this scholarship.

King's College is introducing a new program called LLEO.  The program makes a King's College education affordable for a family with an income less than 50,000 per year.  Application and further details are posted on the senior google classroom.

Pennsylvania State Grant Program: PHEAA - A Grant is a type of financial aid award that you  don’t need to repay, as long as you meet all eligibility requirements.  Apply by May 1st.   http://www.pheaa.org/


This year, Wilkes University has established a new $2,000 Hometown Advantage Award, which is an annual bonus scholarship established for Wilkes University students residing in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties (U.S. citizens and permanent residents only). 

Elizabeth Cadwalader Stoddart Scholarship - The scholarship is designated for a female student that meets specific financial guidelines.  A copy of the application is posted on the google classroom.  Application deadline is March 15, 2024.


William Stoddart Scholarship - The scholarship is specifically designed for a male student that has been accepted and will be attending Yale University.  A copy of the application is posted on the google classroom.  Application deadline is March 15, 2024.


Head Start Scholarship: Guidelines: Previous participation in Head Start program, acceptance in an institution or program of higher learning, guidance counselor or teacher recommendation and complete application with all required attachments.  Application can be downloaded from website. www.lcheadstart.org  Deadline is Friday, January 26, 2024 at 4:00 pm.


2024 Blair E. Caboot Memorial Scholarship: The Scholarship applicant should excel in mathematics in high school and have future plans in a mathematics-related field.  To apply, students should fill out the online form at www.npctm.org.   A transcript and recommednation letter from one of the student's mathematics teachers is required.  The application window is open from  September 1, 2023 through March 1, 2024.  


Society of Women Engineers: The Lehigh Valley Professional Section of Society of Women Engineers grants scholarships to graduating high school senior females who will be entering an accredited engineering program.  A one-time award of up to $5,000 will be granted to each of the successful applicants.    Applications due by: January 28, 2024. http://lv.swe.org/scholarships.html


Calvin Coolidge Scholarship - Is a full-ride, four year, merit scholarship.  Any high school junior who plans to attend college in the fall of 2025 may apply.  The application site: coolidgescholars.org.  All information is posted on the google classroom.  Submission deadline is Thursday, January 18, 2024.  


KPMG Future Leaders Program Scholarship- This scholarship is for a female senior planning to enroll in a four-year college. Scholarship is 10,000 per year.  All information is posted on the google classroom.  Application must be submitted by February 1, 2024.  

United Steelworkers Scholarship Program: Must be a son or daughter of a United Steelworker in District 10.  Applications can be obtained from Local Unions.  Applications must be postmarked before March 15, 2024.  Or stop in the guidance office for more information.

Penn East Federal Credit Union Scholarship -  A student is elibible to apply if he/she or a parent/guardian is a member of Penn East FCU.  The details and application are posted on the google classroom.  The application and all requested information must be received by Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

FNCB Bank Foundation Scholarship - The student or their parents/guardian must be an FNCB customer and graduating high school senior who will be attending a full time college or trade/technical school.  Application can be found on the google classroom and is due by March 15, 2023. https://www.fncb.com/scholarship


Hagan Scholarship Foundation: www.hsfmo.org.  Application deadline is March 1, 2024.


George M Dallas Lodge #531- 2024 Higher Education Scholarship - $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a Dallas student.  Application is located on the google classroom or in the guidance office.  Application deadline is March 15, 2024.


Attorney Charles J. Giacometti Memorial Scholarship - $500.00 scholarship for a senior who has played a varsity sport at least junior and senior years.  A scholarship application and essay of 500 words are required.  All details on google classroom. Application and essay due to Mrs. Cherilyn Keating by Wednesday, March 27, 2024.


James M. Desiderio - Senior WVC wrestling team member, transcript, personal statement, two or three letters of recommendation, EFC, coach signature, Luzerne Foundation by March 29, 2024


Thomas P. Kilduff Memorial Scholarship - For senior varsity competitors on golf team who are college bound and exhibit excellent sportsmanship.  Two letters of recommendation, typed essay on why student deserves the Tom Kilduff scholarship, EFC from FASFA page required for this one time award.  Due to Luzerne Foundation by March 29, 2024  


Adam B. Slamas Golf Scholarship Fund -  For senior students who played on their high school golf team and plan on continuing their education at an institution of higher education or technical-career training.  Official transcript, personal statement of 100-300 words, list of extracurricular and volunteer activites plus work experience, two or three letters of recommendation.  Due to Luzerne Foundation by March 29, 2024.


Kevin Karl Music Foundation Scholarship - Students who are passionate about pursuing music education, study music theory and/or sound production/ recording technology.  Essay, two letters of recommendation, EFC to Luzerne Foundation by March 29, 2024.  


Kenneth G & Patricia E Kirk Scholarship - Awarded to two Dallas Seniors pursuing an education or business degree with preference given to students attending Bloomsburg University, Penn State University, LCCC or any PA. State School.  Due to Luzerne Foundation by March 29, 2024.


Jason Schilling Memorial Scholarship - Member of the Dallas baseball team. College bound senior, completed application, transcript, personal statement, EFC worksheet, letters of recommendation due to Mrs. Cherilyn Keating, Dallas Guidance Office  by Thursday, March 28, 2024.


Paul Brace, Jr. Dallas Athletic Scholarship - Applicant must be a Dallas High School senior male or female athlete, participating in any sport.   Applicant must plan to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college or technical school as a full time student.  Applicant must have demonstrated being a hard working student maintaining an 83 cumulative average or higher.  Application due to Mrs. Keating by Thursday, March 28, 2024.


Caitlin McGuire Memorial Scholarship - Applicant must be a senior female athlete, participating in any sport.  Planning on attending an accredited 2 or 4 year college as a full time student.  Submit a personal statement with details supporting your character trait of being "goal oriented" and willingness to persevere to succeed through challenging and or difficult times.  A resume is also required.  Submit to Mr. Kelly in guidance by Monday, April 8, 2024.


Dallas Marching Band Boosters Scholarship Essay Contest -Dallas Marching Band Boosters Scholarship Essay Contest - Any marching band senior seeking a secondary education with at least three years of participation in the Marching Band is eligible to apply for the scholarship.  Eligible seniors interested in pursuing the scholarship must submit an essay with not more than 500 words that answers the following question: How are you a better person after participation in the Dallas Marching Band program? Due to Dallas Marching Band Boosters by 3:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024. Please email submissions to jbrown@dsdhs.com.   


Ann Jorda " Twenty Hands" Art and Creative Writing Memorial Scholarship- Requirements: senior who has been accepted into a post-secondary college/university with the intended major being Art and/or Creative Writing.  A 200 word essay that describes why you feel you are deserving of this scholarship.  Emphasis should be placed upon describing your future aspirations, paticularly in regard to your interest in Art and/ or Creaviting Writing or Theatre Arts.  A copy of your resume is also required.  Please submit to Mrs. Keating in guidance by Wednesday, April 3, 2024.


Wyoming Valley Woman's Club Scholarship - Is a $1,000 award.  Application is posted on the google classroom.  Deadline for submitting the application to the guidance office is Monday, April 3, 2023.


Scranton Area Community Foundation Scholarships: www.safdn.org/scholarship  students can apply online starting February 1, 2023.  Deadline for applications is April 1, 2023.  All scholarships are posted on the google classroom. 


NEPA Women In Aviation Scholarship - Application and details are posted on the google classroom.  Deadline is February 28, 2023.


Dallas Lions Club Scholarship - Application and resume are due to Mrs. Keating in the guidance office by April 10, 2024.


Dallas Rotary Club Book Scholarship - Submit a resume, brief statement of plans upon graduation, FAFSA report and transcript to Mrs. Keating in guidance by Wednesday, April 3, 2024.  More information on the google classroom.


Lieutenant Michael Cleary Memorial Scholarship - Students eligible for this scholarship must demonstrate leadership qualities, humanitarian characteristics, and be involved in extra-curricular activities.  Please submit resume and personal statement to Mrs. Keating in guidance by Wednesday, April 3, 2024.


Kyle Wega Memorial Scholarship - Must be attending King's College upon graduation, and pursuing a major in either a computer technology or music related field.  Submit a resume and future plans statement to Mrs. Keating in guidance by April 3, 2024.


Kathy Wega Memorial Scholarship - Applicatants should be purusing a major in either education or language arts.  Submit a resume and personal statement to Mrs. Keating in guidance by April 3, 2024.


Dallas Foundation Community Service Scholarship - Applicant must be accepted to a post secondary academic institution and must complete the attached application and include all supporting documents to be considered. Applications are located in the guidance office and must be submitted to Mrs. Keating by April 3, 2024.


Jean Monk Memorial Scholarship - Applicant must be attending Misericordia University.  Submit a resume to Mrs. Keating by Wednesday, March 27, 2024.


Diane Lombardo Culinary Arts Scholarship- Any senior planning to pursue Culinary Arts (or a related field) after high school, should see Mrs. Keating in the guidance by April 3, 2024.


Harold Hoover Music Scholarship - Awarded to a high school senior that is involved in music/theatre department.  Essay and resume to be submitted to Mrs. Keating in guidance no later than Wednesday, April 3, 2024.


Drs. Michael and Kerry Speziale Scholarship - Awarded to a female student who is pursing a career in mathematics or a related field.  Application is posted on the google classroom.  Due to Luzerne Foundation by Friday, March 29, 2024.


Nancy Garvey Memorial Scholarship:  Criteria and application are posted on the google classroom.  Must be returned to the Luzerne Foundation by March 29, 2024.
