Kindergarten Story Time

Scroll down for new activities added weekly!

We love to music and stories, so this is a great activity for your child! Ask them to sing along to the story, and listen for the rhyming words. Your child will be familiar with the story as we have read it briefly in class. See extension ideas below the video. Have fun, Ms. Cruise :)

Let's Draw a Pirate Ship together! Find a large paper and a marker. Ready, set, go!

Also, try and label your ship and add some sea creatures in the ocean!

Email me your picture if you would like to share :) julie.cruise@dsbn.org

This is an example of a sheet we may have done in class. You can use the words to help you label your pirate ship!

Week of April 20-24th:

Have you seen a rabbit in your yard or on a walk with your family? Let's learn about rabbits this week!

Follow the link below to read about rabbits, play some fun activities and watch a story.

It is Earth Day on Wednesday! Have you ever wondered what happens to our recycling once it gets picked up by the recycling truck? I've posted a video below that my son watched for his home learning that he really enjoyed! Scroll to the bottom :)

Can you draw our planet Earth? Can you write a sentence on how you will help to keep our planet healthy?

Week of April 27 - Storytelling

We love to tell stories together in Kindergarten! Remember the stories I told you using felt pictures and props? Now you can create a story of your own using stones you find on your walks or in your backyard.

Take your story stones outside and create a scene with some chalk. You can draw a beach, a neighbourhood, an ocean, outerspace, a school, or anything you like!

Share your story stones or your story on your online class if you wish! I would love to see what you created. Have a great week at home. I miss you!

Since we are having fun doing our Goldfish movement activity in gym this week of April 27-May 1, let's sing and do the actions to one of our favourite songs 'Slippery Fish' by Charlotte Diamond. Follow along with me!

Parents, you can fast forward to 1:55 if you would like the song to begin right away!

We are learning to retell simple stories. We can use songs, pictures, and actions to help us!

Can you retell the story song? Draw a picture of all the sea creatures that you remember from the story. Which sea creature comes first, next, then, and last? Can you cut them out and retell the story with your puppets?
