This site is for the exploration of the work and projects that are done at Governor Simcoe Secondary School. Mr. Michael Grant is the Art Teacher at Governor Simcoe and has been here for over a decade, supporting and encouraging students from grade 9 through grade 12. In grade nine, the students start with studying Prehistoric art and in grade twelve, students end their art history studies by evaluating Postmodern and contemporary artists and art styles. The visual art history classes work as an inspiration for the studio-based artwork that is completed in each class. Students learn about the predominant elements, principles of design, and art-making techniques that are inherent in each historical period all while completing exciting projects.
Please feel free to peruse through past (archival) and present artworks by students at Governor Simcoe.
Thank you,
(Governor Simcoe's Art Curators)
Art Club is free to everyone on Mondays after school from 2:10 to 4:00. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join. Two grade 12 students at Governor Simcoe, Sonya Tallarico and Sydney Taylor, created this commercial to further interest newcomers.
