Creating a box break template or new break
Managing a break from your stream
Users buying your break spots
The new feature being introduced is called "Box Breaks." It involves creating and managing box breaks during a live stream, allowing users to purchase break spots. From your livestream view, you can easily create, monitor, and manage your break - all from one place.
Monitor and manage your break from the bottom of your live stream view.
There are two methods you can use to create a break:
Create a box break template - create a template from your seller dashboard that can be copied into a stream. A template saves a version of that break in your account that you can continuously reuse, useful for making future breaks quickly or if you use a similar setup each time.
Create a new break - create a new break directly from stream creation. Creating a new break can be done during stream setup or during your stream under the Manage Products area (not quick add).
If a new box break is created and is not saved as a template, it will strictly be available in that stream and will not be included in your inventory afterward.
A box break can be created from the following locations:
From your seller dashboard ➝ manage products tab: create a box break template
If created from here, this will automatically save as a template for future use
During stream setup - while you are creating a new stream
During your live stream - this can be created and added to your stream from Manage Products ➝ Box breaks ➝ Create new box break
Regardless of where the break is created they all have the same form consisting of the elements:
Box break title
Description
Image
Category - the sport it belongs to
Break format - the type of break you're running. To start we have pick your spot (team) only.
Spot pricing - for each spot in the break, you can decide:
The type of sale it is: auction, fixed price (buy now), or giveaway
Price
Apply to all - if this is selected you can standardize the sale and price of all break spots. If not you can customize the options for every individual spot
Save as a template - if checked, this will save the box break to your catalog for future use
The box breaks in stream have their own dedicated section from your queue. This allows you to manage breaks from one place.
The box break queue consists of the following elements:
Box break list dropdown: includes each box break in your stream
Break spots: For whichever break is shown in the queue, all spots are displayed. This includes their current status, price, who has bought them.
Box break status: For whichever break is shown, it will display the format, its revenue statistics, and the number of spots filled.
Manage spots: For every spot in the break, you can manage them all directly from this screen. This includes starting any auctions, sales, or giveaways, or editing the spot (three-dot menu) to modify the spot price or sale type.
Mark Active button: this will display to all users in the stream that break is currently "live" and in progress. Once your break is complete, you can press that to go back to inactive.
View break filter: Includes options for view all spots, view available spots only, view sold spots only, and view break details.
View break details will display the entire break in a popup and the status of all spots in the break.
From this popup you can also edit the break details or spot details
The options beside this break are identical to those in the queue, with the exception of rescheduling or canceling a break.
If you need to reschedule a break from your stream, you can do so through the cancel break option. Rescheduling will move that break and all of its detail, buyers, etc. to an upcoming published stream.
From the shop, click the box break three-dot menu and select Cancel Box Break. This opens a popup
Select Reschedule break.
From there, select another upcoming stream from your list to move the box break to, then confirm.
If you don't have another stream published that is upcoming, you will not be able to reschedule the break.
If you need to cancel a box break, you can do so through the cancel break option. Rescheduling will move that break and all of its detail, buyers, etc. to an upcoming published stream.
Select Cancel box break.
From there, confirm and specify a message reason, which will be sent to any users who had purchased from that break.
This will then cancel any orders made from the break.
The box break functionality can be tested at any time, but users will need to update their mobile apps to the latest versions as of Saturday, July 1 to see the break spots available in your stream.
It is recommended to include a stream announcement about this while testing this addition out.
The box break purchases are NOT going to appear in your orders queue (paid tab) in the stream, and will solely be shown in the box breaks tab. So keep this in mind when tracking orders and revenue in stream if you wonder if there's an issue or not. Only non-break purchases will appear in your paid tab.
The first version of box breaks will be supported for the four North American major sport leagues first. We will introduce other sports, mixers, and other categories in the near future.
For the initial version of the box break addition, we will only include PYT team breaks where users can receive spots based on buying the spot, auctions, or giveaways in the stream.
We don't yet have the ability to manually assign spots in the event you run a separate event (such as a duck race) to determine a spot winner. We will work toward this in the near future.
To work around this, it's recommended if a spot winner is determined from some other kind of outcome that you edit the spot price to something very low (like 50 cents or $1) and ask the person to buy that spot at that price and request nobody else buy it.
We aren't yet able to "officially" handle situations where users may trade spots or exchange them in any way. To work around this, you can make a note in the order details of a spot to mark that a user is actually getting XYZ spot instead and vice versa.
If you offer in store pickup: this option has been relocated from your product listings and into your Store Settings. To verify you have store pickup enabled, please check the toggle on this.
The following are known issues heading into the beta test that should not impact your break or stream, but we want you to be aware of. Each of these are works in progress to resolve.
Known bug: It is possible if a user makes a break spot purchase from the iOS app that the spot will not appear in the break, but will instead appear in your regular orders queue. When this happens:
Viewers will see that spot still show as available, but they will be unable to purchase
That spot will still appear as available to you in your break queue
The user who purchased that spot will see something that appears like they bought a normal product by that spot name
If this occurs, it is recommended to inform your viewers that the spot is occupied and there is an error in the product, and to conduct the rest of the break as though that spot has been taken.
Experience issue: The viewers Stream Orders popup does not display break spots within the "All Orders" area of the purchase list, and may create some confusion when viewing those areas.
You'll just need to inform the users that box break spots are not accounted for there if they are looking for things in that order queue.
This issue will not impact the break or any orders in the break, they just will not appear as users may expect them to.
Experience issue: Box break spot giveaways may give a misleading impression on the total value of your box break when viewing that information from your break queue.
