Volunteering is very important to me. There are so many issues in the world that anyone can help solve. I plan to continue volunteering throughout my life.
Since 2018, my family and I have fostered more than three dozen kittens for local shelters. I help take care of and socialize the kittens before they're ready for adoption. With the exception of the two we have now, all of them have been adopted.
I participate in Georgia Urban Ecologists, a monthly program with Birds Georgia (formerly Georgia Audubon). I have had a lot of fun learning about the history of local ecosystems and the city area while exploring a variety of new places. I have participated in multiple service projects involving planting native trees and plants to help restore natural habitats.
At the Atlanta Community Food Bank, I helped with various tasks such as sorting food and other goods, folding boxes, carrying boxes to vehicles, and weighing potatoes. The food gets sent to people who need it. Reducing hunger in my community is important to me, and I was glad to help make a difference.
I volunteered at an animal shelter where I bagged food and distributed toys for the animals living there. It was super fun to see all of the dogs, cats and other pets, and the environment was very relaxing and spacious.
I volunteered at Lucky's Place, a wildlife sanctuary with opossums and other animals in need of rehabilitation. I cleaned the walls and provided the animals with food, water, and blankets. I also took photos to document the work of the other volunteers. This was a fun opportunity to take care of kinds of animals I don't see often.
