For this piece I was challenged with only using white to draw with. The most difficult part of this project was making sure the viewers could still see the different parts of the face while only using shades of white.
For this portrait, I focused on lighting and atmosphere. I wanted to see how a vibrant, glowing background would reflect off the character's dark skin and hair. The biggest challenge was creating the soft, smoky texture of the background while keeping the lines of the braids sharp and defined.
In this piece, I focused on profile perspective and layering accessories. The main challenge was rendering the slouchy texture of the beanie and the flow of the hair to create a sense of depth, while using a muted, atmospheric background to make the character's silhouette stand out.
This project was an exercise in vibrant color theory and maximalism. I challenged myself to fill the composition with high-saturation details and reflective surfaces, like the candy and jewels, to create a sense of organized chaos while maintaining a focal point on the character's expression
For this piece, I focused on capturing realistic lighting and skin tones. The challenge was balancing the sharp lines of the glasses with the softer textures of the hair.
In this project, I experimented with complementary colors and non-traditional skin textures. My main goal was to see how vibrant orange patterns would interact with a deep blue background and hair to create a glowing, high-contrast effect.
For this piece, I wanted to experiment with a more dynamic pose and exaggerated expression. The challenge was accurately drawing the hands and fingers in a way that felt natural while keeping the focus on the detailed, sparkling eyes.
In this piece, I wanted to explore the relationship between human features and nature. The main challenge was meticulously placing the freckles and the sunflower textures to ensure they complemented the character's skin tone without making the composition feel too busy."
With this illustration, I focused on creating a cohesive color palette by matching the character’s hair to the abstract background. The challenge was using different shades of purple to create depth in the hair while keeping the skin tones warm and balanced against the cool surroundings.
In this piece, I wanted to combine human anatomy with mythological elements. The primary challenge was rendering the texture of the horns to make them look heavy and realistic while maintaining a soft, painterly look for the hair and facial features.
In this illustration, I wanted to celebrate natural hair by incorporating organic elements like butterflies to create a crown-like effect. The challenge was finding the right balance between the intricate patterns on the wings and the soft volume of the hair, ensuring the golden highlights tied the whole composition together.
With this portrait, I wanted to experiment with high-key lighting and monochromatic hair. The biggest challenge was creating enough contrast between the white dreadlocks and the bright background highlights so that the hair didn't get lost, while still maintaining that soft, ethereal glow across the skin.
In this final piece, I focused on character design and fashion. The challenge was rendering different fabric textures, like the reflective material of the pink jacket, while using a bold, pop-art-inspired color palette to give the portrait a high-energy, modern feel.
