Hello, I'm Waverly Alcock! I am an avid student, artist, and advocate. I have been attending Drew Charter School since the second grade, and I am grateful that the community has been deeply instilled in me. I love to be active in school through participating in several clubs, including Step Up, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and more. Additionally, I have been a member of the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble for the past seven years and recently became an after-school beginner harp assistant. 

Outside of Drew, I volunteer at Unearthing Farm & Market, where I did an internship over the summer of 2023. Additionally, I work for the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia, in Family Programs and Group Experiences. Within my role, I work alongside a team of 13 other teenagers representing the greater Atlanta area to develop and run programming to increase accessibility to the arts for teenagers. I am passionate about access to art and art education, feeling it is the key to critical thinking, self-expression, and community. Through this mission, I have played a key role in facilitating numerous events for teens at the High, including Teen Night, which was an opportunity for teenagers to have access to the museum. This year's event brought over 400 attendees and highlighted numerous local businesses through giveaway partnerships.  

My experiences have instilled a deep passion for the world around me, and as a graduating senior at Drew Charter School, I am planning on attending Georgia Institute of Technology and majoring in Public Policy. I will specialize in Data Science and Human Rights Policy to further my passion for uplifting underserved communities.

I will major in Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology because it combines my passion for supporting communities with data analysis. Georgia Tech offers a five-year B.S./M.S. Program, which I will take advantage of, expanding my knowledge of policy through a concentration in policy evaluation. Upon graduation, I plan to join the Peace Corps as a volunteer, aiding community and economic development. I am eager to learn about communities outside of my sphere and expand my cultural competence. I would like to go to Georgetown Law School and I aspire to become an international human rights attorney, working for a private practice or an intergovernmental organization. I hope to drive systematic policy change that ensures more equitable opportunities and protections for underserved communities.
