The sophomore grade level project was food for thought studying areas in Metro atlanta that are food swamps and deserts. In geometry, we are studying how far are foods from food swamps and deserts. IN ap world history, we had a cook off using only food from western and Eastern hemisphere. In World Literature, we created recipes relating to the book “How the Garcia girls lost their accents”. In Chemistry, we are finding ionic and covalent bonds in the recipes we made or researched. In Visual Art 2, we created ceramics table set. The field trip to the High museum and NoMas prepare us for the cook off by providing visual imagery of ceramics and dishes mainly from the western hemisphere. The columbian exchange was the trading of food, ideas, and people across the atlantic ocean with the Eastern and Western hemisphere.
The impact of the columbian exchange on the indigenous populations was the spread of disease causing the population to decrease because indigenous immune system was weak to yellow disease and etc. It was difficult to work with the foods from the Western hemisphere because my group mainly brought vegetables that we don't eat together for dishes. Our food tasted salty because the seasoning from the western hemisphere was mainly steak seasoning. I wish that we could have added good seasoning. My favorite food is wings and fries. The ingredients are all from the western hemisphere.
