My tenth grade spanish class has been like one big review for me. I have been learning Spanish since I was 5, so although I have so much room to improve, there is a lot that I have already learned. This year specifically, I have really been able to learn some new things and I'm proud of my growth. 4A Spanish has allowed me to expound on topics in Spanish such as holidays and traditions, travel, and adjectives. In second semester, we learned a lot about new years resolutions and how to say those in Spanish. That unit was new for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The last couple of units that we went over in class were the new year/new years resolutions, the daily routine, and art. I really enjoyed the art unit because I never really thought about art in the way that Señora Diaz taught it.
Another project that I completed for Spanish that I had a lot of fun doing was the perfect routines project. I got the chance to display my creativity when it came to my editing skills as well as display my Spanish speaking skills.
Instead of taking art and chemistry as separate classes, this year I took ChemVas. ChemVas gives me space and time that I need to let off steam creatively, while still thinking critically. Over the course of 10th grade, we have done several projects with various themes. One that I really enjoyed working on was the Molecule Model project. The assignment was to create an artistic model that represented the use of the molecule you chose. The emphasis was conveying through the art how important the molecule is to our everyday life.
Another project that I completed for ChemVas that I am extremely proud of is the ChemVas Cooks Assignment. I worked hard over several weeks to create this project as I learned about the chemistry of cooking and chemistry behind photography. The dish I made was Bismuth Birria Tacos. See for yourself!
This year and World Lit, I had the wonderful opportunity to write my first novel, Letters from Marie. This was one of the biggest projects that I ever had to complete, and I put a lot of time and effort into it. I am happy with the end result, and I am grateful to my teachers and parents for pushing me to complete this task. One part of this project that I found extremely beneficial was learning about the formatting and publishing process. I had to format my book myself and I had to go back and fix errors in my book 4 or 5 times before Amazon approved it and put it on their site. Learning to not get discouraged when my book was sent back for whatever reason was key for me because my resilience and determination is what helped me to see this project all the way through.
