To me, volunteer means giving back and giving your time to the community that you live in. But community isn't just limited to where you live day to day, but instead I believe a community is what you make it. Maybe you have community at your job or at school, or community with people you love and cherish and whom you share the same values with. That's true community. Drew requires 100 hours of community service to push us to dedicate ourselves to things outside of ourselves, see that community in various places, and most of all, create life lasting relationships and memories knowing that you made an impact in someone else's life. I've earned over 150 hours volunteering within Step UP, as well as volunteering in the City of Atlanta working with the youth.
