This project is in my 11th grade American Literature class. My choices while deciding on what to write this myth on was repeatedly changed, until I decided to write on emotions. In the beginning, there was a young girl, Luda, who wanted to escape from the sullen household she lived in. When she runs away, she meets a n unknown creature, Lora, who has no face, no emotions. When spending time with her new friend, Luda teaches Lora how to feel things and communicate like a human.
For artistic elements in my drawing, I chose lines and space. Luda is holding Lora's hand as there are different emotions being felt. I wanted the audience to know how many emotions something or someone can feel, and that there is no limit to one specific emotion (e.g. sadness, sorrow, despair, unhappiness, etc).
I'm actually quite proud of this work. I like trying out new things, and writing a myth was a new excitement for me. If there are more chances to do something like this in the future, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. Something so short told such a significant story.
In this assignment, our classmates worked in groups of 2 - 4 and and analyzed one out of the five poems presented to us. After we analyzed our selected poem, Emily Dickinson's "I dwell in Possibility," we wrote and played a short song on a guitar, representing what we felt the poem expressed. We recorded a video of the song and another group member recited the poem after. In our analysis, we explained how lines of the poem expresses the endless amount of opportunities presented in the world. One line of the poem is presented below:
I dwell in Possibility – (1)
A fairer House than Prose – (2)
As for the music, we chose a light and hopeful tune. We wanted the song to be simple yet memorable, like the poem.
For my final project in American Literature, we were tasked with choosing a prompt to answer an analyze. For my prompt, "How can I unpack and master the techniques and style of a writer I admire?" I analyzed three songs by Doja Cat, identifying three traits of her works. After I analyzed her works and wrote my informational essay, I was tasked with creating a creative project. I wrote a verse that can be read as a song or poem including some themes from Doja Cat's works.
