One way that we applied transformations to the real world was through discussing how video games were made when they were designed by hand in the early 1980s. We went through the process of designing our own video games which consisted of translations, rotations, and reflections that helped navigate the players of the video game. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1V7NrPv5IvNRqX3SyfqiSn3911ZK4XTRyF5ppg42GUwM/edit?usp=sharing
It was important throughout this process that we remember the differences between translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. A translation simply moves the graph, or pre-image, without changing the size or spinning the image. A reflection flips the pre-image across some line. A rotation spins the pre-image around a point. A dilation either expands or shrinks the pre-image.
In order to make the building true to the prototype, they must dilate the scale and measurements. In the doctor's office. Dilation is used in eye exams so that the eye doctor can view the patient's eye better. After a while it will slowly reduce in size and return back to normal.

One way that right triangle trigonometry applies to the real world is through finding the length of distances between 2 points. In geometry we used google maps and created right triangles from different neighborhoods in Atlanta. We used trig. Ratios to determine the length of the distance between the neighborhoods to different resources such as the hospital and grocery store. We then compared the length of these distances to the income in the neighborhoods. This helped to show the inequalities present in many areas in Atlanta.

The Pythagorean Theorem is useful for two-dimensional navigation. You can use it and two lengths to find the shortest distance. ... For instance, a plane can use its height above the ground and its distance from the destination airport to find the correct place to begin a descent to that airport.
