Science Newtons Rockets: During the project i was in a group with Corinne, Taylor, Judah, and Ellis. The goal of the experiment was to created a rocket that could shoot up into the air with a chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar. The materials we used were a plastic water bottle, straws, a cork, tape, and vinegar in the bottle and a tissue to hold the baking soda until we wanted to use it. First we taped four straws to created a stand for the rocket on the outside of the bottle. Then we poured vinegar into the bottle to around the half way point. then we used the cork to hold onto the tissue carrying the baking soda inside the bottle and when we wanted to see the chemical reaction, you turn the bottle over and back away to watch it fly into the air.
Science Newtons Cradle: For this project i was in a group with Ellis and Kamiyah. The objective of the project was to make a working newtons cradle, meaning once you release a marble to swing it should transfer the energy through out the other marbles making them swing as well without touching them. The materials we needed were hot glue, popsicle sticks, marbles, and string. We hot glued the popsicle sticks together into a cube formation, then we glued the same size string to each of the marbles. We then glued those strings on the cube so all the marbles were hanging at the same height. Then once you swing the marbles the other should swing aswell if you do it correctly.
English Assignment #4
Algebra 1 Guided Notes Linear Functions
I chose this work because this was a large packet and i was proud of myself for being able to complete the entire thing. I showed the strength to be able to graph, understand, build, evaluate, write, and analyze functions. One way I think I could improve on this is being able to identify is something was a function or not when its in mapping form.
#2 Sundiata Essay
A hero is someone who is strong and brave and selfless. Sundiata is a strong young man who fought a sorcerer king for his village, helped himself to walk again with only an iron rod, saved and cared for the people of his village without expecting anything in return. Sundiata showed the most heroism in his rebirth. He faces his greatest enemy he's had since he was very young, the sorcerer king and had to use his intelligence to figure out the specific way he had to kill the king. After showing strength and resilience defeating the sorcerer king he burned Sosso to the ground to assert dominance over his newly freed kingdom.
To begin, during the rebirth step of his heroic journey, Sundiata shoots the sorcerer king with the spur of a white rooster sending him to vanish into a cave never to be seen again. For example in the passage it states, “Sundiata stood before the sorcerer king, his sword at the ready. The two men circled each other warily, waiting for the other to make a move. Then with a sudden burst of energy, Sundiata lunged forward and struck the sorcerer king with all his might. The sorcerer king fell to the ground, defeated.” Later in the story, there is another passage that describes how Sundiata's victory over the sorcerer king changed the course of the war: “With the sorcerer king defeated, the other armies quickly fell into disarray. Sundiata’s army was able to push forward and claim victory.” These passages show Sundiata has the strength and the intelligence to overcome even the most powerful enemies. This relates to when I said that being a hero requires you to be brave and Sundiata showed how brave he had to be when defeating the sorcerer king.
Additionally, during the rebirth step of his heroic journey, Sundiata showing the ability to unite the different tribes of the region is his start of a council that included leaders from each of the tribes. For example in the passage it states that, “Sundiata was able to unite the tribes of the region through his strength, wisdom, and courage. He was a charismatic leader who was able to inspire his followers to great deeds.” This shows Sundiata was able to unite the tribes through his charisma and leadership abilities. This ties together when describing the characteristics of a hero, you must have leadership abilities and be able to charm people.
Additionally, during the rebirth step of his heroic journey, Sundiata was able to rebuild an entire empire that outlasted him for thousands of years. For example, on national geographic it states, “Sundiata Keita founded the powerful Mali Empire. Known for its progressive values and their wealth, it followed Ghana as the next great west African empire. Here are ruins from the Mali Empire, in what is now Neni, Mali.” This shows that Sundiata was able to build such a powerful empire it withstood the test of time and became an excellent place. This ties together with the definition of heroism because Sundiata wouldn't of been able to build such a powerful and great empire without having the attributes of being a great leader and showing bravery throughout his struggles
On the other hand, some people might think that the origin part of his journey was the most heroic point in the story because he wasn't able to walk or talk and he had to fight through all of those struggles. For example, when he lifted himself with an iron rod he had his blacksmith prepare for him to use one day. He showed so much strength by doing it all on his own and teaching himself to walk. Although this is a compelling piece of the story it doesn't show his heroism as much as Sundiata's rebirth does. His origin shows bravery and strength but it doesn't show leadership and selflessness. Sundiata is much more of a hero in the rebirth than in the origin.
In conclusion, the rebirth part of Sundiata's journey was the most heroic. Because he showed strength, he showed selflessness and he showed many signs of leadership when defeating his enemies. Sundiata showed selflessness when he rebuilt Mali and he showed leadership when he united the tribes to form a powerful army. He also showed strength when he was faced with the task of defeating the sorcerer king and sending him away for good. Sundiata is such an inspiring leader he could be able to unite our nations and bring us together to keep the world at peace and use his strengths to fight against global warming and get people to actually fight the cause with his strong leadership skills.
this essay describes how Sundiatas rebirth shows how heroic he was the most in the story. It shows his leadership his selflessness and his bravery all in one.
