This is the practice CNC file that I designed in class to learn how to operate the CNC machine. We designed the sign in Inkscape, and cut the design out in the CNC machine.
These are signs we made for the athletics department. The one I was tasked with producing was Zachary's sign. We develop wood products with the CNC machine by using ShopBot to process the designs.
This is a coaster I made in the GlowForge, a laser cutting tool that we will be using to create projects and products for customers.
This is a pumpkin lantern design that was cut from the GlowForge.
Important Safety Rules for Operating the Table Saw:
Do: Wear Safety Glasses - Sawdust may irritate the senses, most notably the eyes.
Do: Use the Push Stick - Push Stick pushes smaller pieces of wood towards the saw and keeps your body away from the saw.
Do: Keep your body parts more than 6" away from the Saw - Reduces the chances of injury from using the saw.
Don't: Stand directly in front of the saw - If the saw or wood pieces fly directly forwards or backwards of the blade, you may be injured.
Don't: Cut with conductive materials (Wet, metal, etc) - The table saw has a mechanism in it to prevent it from cutting conductive material to prevent flesh from being cut, but this damages the saw.
Don't: Leave the saw unattended - This damages the saw overtime and leaves a hazard in the workspace.
A planer is used to smooth and level the flat surfaces of a board to a consistent thickness.
Power miter saws are designed to make angled cuts for molding, trim work, rafters and other general carpentry applications.
A biscuit joiner or biscuit jointer (or sometimes plate joiner) is a woodworking tool used to join two pieces of wood together.
In preparation for assembly, I cut another piece of wood for my side legs, and filled my original piece with wood putty.
Using wood glue and a nail gun, I put my pieces together into a table.
After assembly, I used Wood Putty to fill in the seams again.
After letting the Wood Putty set in and dry, I sanded the excess off.
Using Wood Stain, I stained the surface of my Table.
I cut the table legs with the miter saw and then sanded them.
