Hey! I’m Kemyah, a senior at Charles R Drew Charter who’s always been driven by curiosity, compassion, and a love for learning. I’ve worked hard to keep up my grades while balancing everything else that makes me who I am. Volunteering has been a huge part of my life—I’ve spent over 100 hours giving back, especially supporting individuals with disabilities, because I believe in making a real difference in people’s lives.

Outside of school and service, I love the freedom of driving—whether it’s to clear my mind or explore new places, there’s something refreshing about being on the road. Animals have always had a special place in my heart, from dogs and cats to chickens and reptiles. I have two reptiles of my own, and caring for them has deepened my appreciation for the unique personalities and quirks of different animals. When I need to unwind, painting is my escape. It’s my way of expressing myself and finding peace in the chaos of life, allowing me to turn emotions into something tangible and meaningful.

I’m beyond excited to be heading to Emory University, where I’ll be double majoring in Biology and Computer Science. I want to combine medical expertise with technology to create better assistive devices, before continuing to medical school to pursue my dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. My high school journey has been all about hard work, creativity, and service, and I can’t wait to bring those same values into this next chapter of my life.
