As a student at Charles R. Drew Charter School, I can say it’s a place that truly challenges and supports me at the same time. One of the biggest things that makes Drew different is how much they focus on STEAM and project-based learning. Instead of just memorizing facts for a test, we actually apply what we learn through hands-on projects, presentations, and real-world problem-solving. It makes learning feel more engaging and meaningful.
Another thing I love about Drew is the community. Since it’s a K-12 school, a lot of us have been here for years, and there’s a sense of connection between students and teachers. The teachers genuinely care about us, and they push us to do our best, whether it’s in academics, arts, or sports. The school also puts a big focus on leadership and making a difference, which has helped me grow a lot personally.
Drew also does an amazing job preparing us for college and the future. There are so many opportunities, from advanced courses to SAT/ACT prep and college counseling. They don’t just want us to graduate—they want us to succeed beyond high school.
I chose to come to Drew because I wanted to be in an environment that challenges me but also encourages creativity. Whether it’s through the arts, engineering, or research projects, there’s always a chance to think outside the box. Drew isn’t just about getting good grades—it’s about becoming a well-rounded, prepared, and confident person.
