In my LIFE class, we began a project called A Change is Gonna Come where we have to give our own views on change. We have to include certain skills that we gained in a few other classes. To be honest, a lot more social justice has been pushed due to the pandemic and I don’t want to take a part of it. Spreading awareness is good but I don’t have to be the one to do it. I have my own life to live and everyone else does too. I’d want to be expressive as I want to be. If anything should be pushed, it should be creative thought because it’s fun.
I did a poem since I thought that rambling facts doesn’t bring a point across, in my opinion.

For the LIFE Sci-Fi Choice Board Project, I worked on an original fictional. It’s in a ‘choose your adventure’ format in google slides. I aimed to express the sci-fi themes of time-paradox, multi-dimensions, game simulation, apocalyptic past, and transformed space. I also aimed to express the abstract themes of collaboration, idealism, and determination.
This story is called Key Dungeon. The point of this adventure story is to allow readers to journey along and choose important decisions for them. The characters are in this dungeon and are trying to get out. The 4 characters you meet are Icurus, Hinotari, Knighch, and Glade. Icurus is a young archer, around age of 14, with a younger brother, Hinotari, that got trapped with him. Hinotari is a magic fighter, who went with a different team, around age 13. Knighch is a swordsman, almost 16 years old. Glade is a martial artist, around age of 18.
They battle multiple enemies until the final boss. You, as a reader, get to choose what the trio, Icurus, Knighch, and Glade, fights before the final boss. After every chosen enemy is defeated, the characters fight the final boss. After the defeat of the final boss, you, as a reader also have to make an important decision that decides the outcome of this story.
As a reader, you get to hear multiple songs as you read along. When you first meet with Icurus, you hear his theme which is supposed to bring an idealistic view on the story. In the corner of that slide, you see how the bow materializes from the pendant. The theme played during the meet with Knighch is supposed to bring a rising action feel. You also see how Knighch’s sword materializes from the pendant in the corner. When you first meet Glade, the theme played is supposed to bring the mood of the party finally getting together and the shenanigans they deal with. In the corners of that slide, there is a gif of how glade summons his shields and a gif to give an idea of the innards of the portals that three traveled through to get to the dungeon. The theme played during the ‘choose your enemy’ is supposed to signify the team’s determination. The theme during the battle against the enemy is supposed to give a sci-fi game feel. The theme during the meet with Hinotari in the dungeon is supposed to give a feel of the intensity of what is happening. The theme for the final boss is supposed to give a sense of an ominous realm that the characters have entered. The theme for the final decision for the readers to make is supposed to give a feel of something coming to happen. The theme for the bad ending is supposed to convey the message of a bad choice. The theme for the good ending is supposed to convey the message of a good choice.
The way I did combat was based on DnD-like stats. With the stat sheets and status effect sheets, anyone could rpg the game in a table top style. To be honest, combat for the final boss was taking a while.
To tie everything together, the point of the characters going into the dungeon was to fix a time paradox. The team, Aerorics, is fated to be the team of three heroes who save the dungeon, but only when they make the right choice. If I were to work on this further, I'd add in the other battles against the othe other enemies and more gifs. If I had a lot more time and others to work with, I'd make a cartoon film.
In our Steam and Social Justice class, we had to develop a proposal for an event called Critical Mass Drew, a bike ride for the community where there would be stops for the group to give Teach-ins. Every group, (of 5-6 people), was assigned to do 3 teach-ins on issues, with at least 2 members working on each one. Those Teach-ins were to be QR codes on a yard sign as a video; the video is shown on the left.
Production and execution of developing the video were done by me, due to communication issues. Despite the troubles, quality, and length, I managed to complete the video. If I had more time, I would improve the quality, shorten the length of the video, and have more people to cast.
