The Columbian exchange was the European/Spanish driven back-and-forth of goods between Europe and the Caribbean Islands. European explorers shipped goods such as wheat, poultry and cattle, animals, insects and people, as well as disease, were brought over to the western hemisphere. When they returned home, they stole things like turkey, potatoes, tobacco, corn, and peanuts away to the eastern hemisphere.
This project helped me understand the Columbian exchange better because I not only got to learn more about the crops that grow on this side of the world and how their transfer has affected the things we eat today, but also gave me a deeper understanding of what happened during the era of colonization.
