My group and I made a 1/3 scale representation of a human skeleton.
Our model represents a skull from the human skeleton model we are currently built. Are model was supposed to be 1/3 scale compared to a real human skull. It includes all of the common bones in the human body (pictured to the right). We made our skeleton using 3d printers. First, we created the skeleton. I learned that the cranium contains many separate bones, including the frontal, occipital, parietal, and zygomatic bones. Next we created the ribs. There are 12 pairs of ribs. Rib pairs 8-12 are fake ribs, and ribs 11 and 12 are floating ribs. Then we worked on the spine. The spine has 24 vertebrae. Finally, we completed the appendicular skeleton, which consists of the appendages. We completed the pelvic girdle and then the legs, which consist of the femur, fibula, and tibia. Next we created the arm bones, which are the humerus, ulna, and radius. Next we made the feet and hands, which include the tarsals, metatarsals, carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges.
