Chorus

Concert Review-

The performance of Once upon a December, from the movie Anastasia, was the most captivating song in my opinion. The song clearly highlighted all of the voice parts, and was beautifully performed. I can say as an alto I specifically concerned for the "Ah" part in the song because it was easy to get lost in the Soprano or tenner part, but we were able to perform and do our part perfectly.

Deo Dicamus Gratias

For this song I think the alto part was really strong, and on highlighting specific parts we did really well as choir. This song although was just the same words repeated, there were a lot of technical pieces that made this song that we made sure were applied.

The Road home

For this song the alto part was very difficult on some parts, because our part went against everyone else, on parts like the "Ohs". I think this song came together a lot better than expected especially for it being acapella. There was a lot of phrase shaping that went it to this song, and making sure the way we wanted to perform this song came across.

Fall Concert 2022

For our Fall concert in Chorus this year we performed three pieces. The first piece we performed was titled Viva La Muisca, a lively song in Spanish. The meaning of the song was to speak to the life of music,

and how it will live forever. The song was beautifully sung, especially for it being am accapella piece. I think the parts blended well together, and each section sounded stable and full. The next piece we performed was titled Wide Open Spaces. This song was beautifully elegant, and I think we performed very well. For this song we worked a lot of phrase shaping, and the specific dynamic markings regarding sound. The final piece sounded eloquent. For our last piece on our fall concert we sang, Sanctuary, a piece combining our elementary, middle, and high school choirs. This song was very difficult to learn especially with the runs and going up and down the scale for the bridge in the middle of the song. But all the voices across Drew came together beautifully, and performed a heart warming piece that moved the audience to tears.

GSU Sing Fest

One of the excursions that we get to experience as being apart of Drew's choir is that we get to perform with other high schools throughout Georgia at Georgia states sing fest. This is such a unique opportunity, to perform with such a big choir when were small in size and to also be taught be Choral professors at Georgia State is an honor. One of the songs we sang was Shine the Light, which a somewhat rendition of This Little light of Mine. The song was church inspired and was very lively. Each part got our own solo sections for this song, which was unique and fun to do. Singing with a mass choir also helped me to project and sing louder. Overall this was an amazing experience.

LGPE: The Word was God

For our LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) this year, one of of the songs we chose to perform was 'The Word was God.' This song was my favorite of the two selections because it showed how strong we are as choir despite being small in size. This songs was sung with no accompaniment as it was a accapella piece, and despite this we were still able to sound beautiful as a choir. Each part of the choir sounded amazing, and no part overshadowed the other. As an alto I'm proud that we were able to highlight our part, awhile still blending with the other sections. Overall this was my favorite piece because of how well we came together and sounded as a choir, and it paid off with an all Superiors rating.
