I will be attending Tuskegee University in the fall to major in Health Science, with the goal of becoming a radiologic technician or sonographer. I chose this path because I’m passionate about healthcare and want to make a real impact on people’s lives. Through research and personal reflection, I’ve become more aware of the growing mental health crisis among adolescents, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. Articles like “Young people’s mental health is finally getting the attention it needs” highlight how limited funding and access to care are leaving many young people without the help they need. Even though my career will focus on physical health, I understand that mental and emotional well-being are just as important. I want to be the kind of healthcare professional who not only performs diagnostic imaging but also brings compassion and understanding to every patient interaction. My goal is to support others in a way that acknowledges both their physical and mental health needs
