Above is my first, handwritten draft. This was written in 90 minutes during class time.
For my first synthesis essay, we argued whether or not Arthur Miller's portrayal of Tituba in The Crucible was historically accurate. My thesis was "While Miller accurately portrayed Tituba as an enslaved woman from the Caribbean who was the first to be accused of witchcraft, he inaccurately portrayed her as having a simplified background with no indication of her ethnicity being indigenous, and he portrays her as leading the girls in witchcraft, painting her to be the villain. " and I used The Crucible, & "The Trial of Tatabe" as sources.
Handwritten Draft
For my first rhetorical analysis essay, we identified rhetorical devices Miller uses in his article "Why I Wrote The Crucible." My thesis was "Miller claims he wrote The Crucible because he felt familiar with the content of the play, specifically the idea of blame and where it lies, which is revealed through his tone when detailing similarities of the play and his marriage, his point of view to describe the character of John Proctor, and his diction to emphasize I think what he truly felt in real life, but instead portrayed in the play. " and I used The Crucible & "Why I Wrote The Crucible" as sources.
