My friend Allyson and I chose to focus on wildlife trafficking for our project. Our article detailed how many networks capture, kill and sell animals and products made from them from profit, and that there are also many communities that use them for food or medicine. Billions of dollars are made from trafficking. Trafficking is extremely detrimental to the ecosystem, as it lowers populations of important plants and animals and can spread disease to humans. We can help stop it by educating ourselves, volunteering with or donating to charities that support wildlife, and encouraging governments to pass laws that better protect the natural worl
For our summer assignment, as an introduction to the class and its topics, we created a map of our local surroundings. I made a map of my neighborhood, Joyland.
For our final project, we were tasked to create a parody music video rewriting an existing song to be relevant to one of the topics we learned about in our class. My friend Reilly and I chose to make our parody about Thomas Malthus and Malthusian theory based on the song Miku ft. Hatsune Miku by Anamanaguchi
One of our first assignments was to draw a self-portrait that represented ourselves. I don't feel very connected to my actual face and body, so I drew my fursona instead, because that was allowed.
For this assignment, we were given a photo of a celebrity to recreate as a sketch to the best of our ability.
For a collaboration grade, we were assigned groups and told to create a collaborative artwork based on a given prompt. The first prompt was a fantasy map, which we based on a turtle and other sea creatures, and the second prompt was for fashion inspired by the seasons, which we divided amongst ourselves. I drew the artwork for summer.
We had an assignment to create a surreal artwork, and I decided to base mine off of early 2000's and 2010's MS Paint artwork, which had been prolific in many internet spaces at the time, and edited it to look like it was being displayed on a computer screen.
We had to make dichotomous keys and I made one based on the Holotypic Occlupanid Research Group because it seemed fun and relevant and I like collecting bread clips.
Our dichotomous key had to be based on something like plants, animals, inanimate objects, etc., anything that has things to be differed from one another, and it had to have at least 10 individual "species." Dichotomous keys are used to identify species of organisms with yes-or-no or this-or-that style questions based on their traits.
Makecode is a website created by Microsoft to help students learn to code using simple game tutorials.
