You should continue to use the daily attendance report available which is designed to be completed by attendance officers and shared with their DSL to ensure that any absences are followed up specifically from a safeguarding point of view if required. You can download a copy of this report template from the folder at the bottom of this page. David Sands has kindly prepared a short instructional video on how to prepare the report (which should take no more than 5 minutes per day) and this can be viewed by clicking here. Whilst the daily use of the report (in primary at least) is not compulsory, if you are not using it then you should be able to demonstrate that you already have good systems in place to alert your DSL to any significant absence of pupils.
STOP PRESS: Bromcom have now updated their training website and guidance, which can be found here.

If any academy has any bespoke report requirements or just needs some support setting up scheduled reports or maximising their efficiencies, they should email data@dret.co.uk
This is a question that I am often asked after I send out a set of data produced by the data team. There are usually three main differences that cause this as follows:
The central team supplied data will relate only to those pupils of statutory school age. If your data is different then this is the first thing to check
The central team supplied data will include those currently on roll as well as leavers in order to comply with the national attendance reporting requirements. At present, the standard reports and the attendance dashboard on Bromcom do not include leavers so the data will usually be different in relation to PA
The third thing that often causes small differences is the date that the central team has accessed the data. If this is not exactly the same time period as your data, there will be some discrepancies.
Following requests for the ability to review the percentage of different attendance codes used, this facility has now been added to Bromcom for you. Here's how you access the report:
From the main Bromcom menu go into reporting
From the reports select 'Analysis' folder and you will see one report in there entitled 'attendance codes recorded in a date range'.
Double click on the report name and you will be shown a box with the title 'Report Parameters'. Click on the 'find' button.
From here you can select by a number of different criteria, with perhaps the most useful being by year group. However, to select all pupils for the YTD click on the radio button for 'show all' , click on the 'find' button, click on the 'select all' button, click on the preview button.
Bromcom will then generate a report which gives you a breakdown by year group of the number of times each code has been used. This is actually fairly meaningless and its much easier to understand if this is changed into percentages. Versha has kindly prepared a spreadsheet that will do this for you which you can access below. You will need to manually input the figures from the Bromcom report into the spreadsheet which will then show you your percentages (any issues with this please contact Versha or Wendy as it can be a little bit fiddly to do).
This report is perhaps at its most powerful when we compare percentage of use of each code across academies as you can then see if your code use is in line with everyone else's. You are therefore requested to send a copy of your code percentage report to Wendy with permission to share for the benefit of all.
