Spring 2022
In May 2022, the first DIS Debating Tournament took place to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our school. Twelve teams participated from Germany and the Czech Republic. Over two days, teams debated prepared and impromptu motions. In the end, the team "Czech White" won first place, "the Purple Monkeys" from Berlin Brandenburg International School came in second, followed by "Czech Blue." We are thrilled that our Junior teams from grades 9 and 10 ranked fifth and sixth place after tackling complex issues with substantive arguments and rebuttals.
A Junior and a Senior team took part in the 2019 SSHL World Schools Debate Tournament in Sigtuna, Sweden, taking home first prize for the Junior team and second prize for the Senior team.
Two Junior teams participated in the World Schools Debate Prague Spring Tournament, including 70 teams from all over Europe, and debating motions such as THR the rise of anti-global movements. Whilst being there, we surpassed our own expectations by winning 3 out of 6 debates and placing 41st out of 70 teams from 21 countries.
DIS hosted a World Schools Debate Friendly Tournament for Junior and Senior debaters, debating students from St. Benno Gymnasium and Kreuzgymnasium Dresden.

Coaching sessions on World Schools Debate format for Junior and Advanced debaters and staff held at DIS, focusing on unpacking motions, preparing arguments and points of information, and adjudicating.
